“I’ve studied English for years – but I still can’t express myself authentically”.
“I know the grammar rules, but I freeze up when I speak.”
“My career progress is limited by my English.”
These are sentiments I’ve often heard (unfortunately!) from professionals. But it doesn’t have to be that way. That’s why I created Talktips – a space designed to help people switch to English at work and feel confident that they’re doing a great job.

My approach?
By putting participants at the heart of the training, I focus on the practical realities of using English in their personal and professional lives. With empathy and a down-to-earth approach, I make learning feel natural and relevant.
The outcome?
Being ready to use English easily, happily, and efficiently in professional settings.

MY LIFE IN BULLET POINTS
- I grew up in Scotland, but I’ve lived in Spain for over a decade, including one rogue year in Cuenca (long story). I now spend my time between Barcelona and the Pyrenees.
- I studied History at the University of Edinburgh, and later did the Cambridge CELTA course to become a qualified English language teacher.
- I was Head of Studies of Barcelona’s largest adults’ English academy for 7 years, managing a team of 25 in a school of 1500 students.
- From New York to Melbourne, I have worked closely with people from all over the globe.
- For many people, my accent sounds more American than Scottish! Let’s see if you agree!
